Christmas in Edinburgh

Hey lovelies, I hope you’re all well and enjoying this time of year as much as I am.
Everyone just seems so happy, there are so many events taking place to the lead up of Christmas and it also means the Christmas Markets are here which is my favourite part.
Now that it is the Christmas period I booked a few things to do in Edinburgh. I’ve never had the chance to fully experience the whole festive fun that goes on in Edinburgh. So this year I decided to go all out. First thing we did when we got there was Ice Skating. I have been looking forward to this all year after sadly finding out Glasgow wasn’t going to have the Ice Rink in George Square anymore.
The Ice Rink was around the Statue in St Andrews Square. What bothered me about this Ice Rink is firstly it was so small and secondly they only clean it once, where as in Glasgow they clean the Ice after each session. But it was still fun gliding around the ice :).

After Ice Skating we headed over to Princes Street for the Markets. Which by far are the best markets I have ever been to. We got some delicious Peri Peri Crispy Potato Skewers & some Hot Mini Pancakes with Nutella. The food is my favourite part of the markets. The stalls had so many perfect gives, whether it be clothes, food, ornaments or even some really thoughtful personalised goods.

I also booked this Christmas Tree Maze. It’s basically a maze made out of real Christmas Trees covered in fairy lights. We were giving cards and you had to go around the maze and find 6 stamps which spelt out the word Jingle, then before you leave the maze there is a workshop. You tell the Elf the secret word ‘Jingle’ and you get a bag of Chocolate Coins. At first we got competitive and then after 3 stamps, it started to get really cold and we couldn’t handle how cold it was, so we walked out without the chocolate coins :(.

Then we went to see the Street of Lights, which is an amazing set of lights going down a street which you can walk through. In the evening there are 2 sessions at 6pm and 8pm where the lights start dancing to a song. This is a free event but I booked it so we could get a better view of it. I loved how they played Bollywood music, it was amazing. Everyone was dancing, the lights were dancing to Tigerstyle. Definitely something to check out if you’re ever in Edinburgh during the festive season.

Sincerely Sophs x
